About
Howdy, I’m Tom Bennett.
I am a 47 year old father of two, and coach to one of the best little league teams in the southern states – this was not always the case though.
Truth is, I have always been a fan of the game since I used to play in little league myself. As you could imagine, it was only natural that I wanted to coach my own kids. That said, I quickly found out, it didn’t matter how good I could play, coaching is an entirely different kettle of fish.
I found this out the hard way.
When I first starting to coach, my teams record went downhill. We lost game after game, and even had a near season long losing streak. Let me tell you, that did not go down all too well. Everyone was looking to me for answers and from parents to players but I didn’t know what to tell them. I was trying my best.
Fortunately, a good friend of mine (and fellow coach) saw us going download hill pretty quickly and passed on an old book called “Youth BaseBall Coaching”.
At first I was little skeptical but I’m always willing to give anything a go. In short, it was a B.S book that literally showed me where I was going wrong.
To cut a long story shot, this book single handedly turned my coaching 180 degrees. The following year, we didn’t win the championship, but I can tell you that we won more than half of the games that we played. It wasn’t until the following following year in which we took out our first championship. I almost couldn’t believe it!
Over the years, we’ve gone from strength to strength and I developed a real passion for coaching little league teams. And that’s why I decided to create a website about it
